Mumbai: The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has invited applications for its Diploma course in Youth Leadership and Social Change (DYLSC) as well as its Post Graduate Diploma courses in Counselling, and Digital Library and Information Management (PGDLIMS). These courses are all Short Term Programmes offered under the Nirantar: Continuing Education Programmes (CEP).
The DYLSC is offered by the School of Social Work at TISS. It is a 1200 hour, 2 semester programme with both an online and a practicum component. The Diploma will be awarded at the end of the second semester after the completion of the certificate level of the course in the first semester.
With an enrollment limit of 40 students, the programme is open to individuals who are at least 18 years old and have a minimum education till the 12th grade.
Through a combination of digital learning and field experiences, the programme aims to foster analytical as well as practical skills among learners for effective social intervention. It is stated to provide knowledge about issues and challenges concerning the diverse populations of youth in contemporary India, enhance critical reflections on institutions, policies and cultural practices as the first step towards facilitating social change, and build leadership capacities within students when undertaking opportunities of fieldwork.
The last date for the submission of the application form is 15th June, 2026. Personal interviews will be held online shortly after from 22nd to 26th June, 2026.
The School of Social Work also offers a PG Diploma in Counselling. This is a 45 week, 3 semester part-time programme with an enrollment limit of 50 students. The PG Diploma will be awarded at the end of the third semester, after the completion of the certificate and diploma levels of the course in the first and second semester, respectively.
Individuals eligible for the programme must be aged 25 years or above, and must be graduates in any discipline from a recognised university. Preference will be given to working professionals with 3 or more years of relevant work experience in social work, education, health, law, human resources, or other people-centric professions.
The programme employs an experiential style of learning, with a focus on self-exploration as well as collective reflections. It aims to improve knowledge regarding the nature, scope and theories associated with counselling and human psychopathology, while also developing competencies for the effective application of counselling skills within personal and professional environments.
The last date for the submission of the application form is 5th May, 2026. Personal interviews will be held shortly after from 11th May to 13th May, 2026.
The PGDLIMS is offered by the Centre for Library and Information. It is a year long, 2 semester programme with an enrollment limit of 25 students. This programme also follows a blended learning mode, combining contact classes with online classes conducted through the e-learning platform MOODLE.
Eligible individuals must either have a Bachelors, a Masters or a Ph.D in Library and Information Science from any recognised university.
The programme employs innovative yet people-friendly techniques in its provision of advanced knowledge on topics such as digital preservation, field work and digital content creation and the incorporation of artificial intelligence in libraries. It also creates career opportunities in libraries, archives, museums, information centres and research institutions.
The last date for the submission of the application form is 10th August, 2026. Selection results will be declared on 30th August, 2026.
