TISS Invites Applications for ICSSR Sponsored Capacity Building Programme on Regional Economic Growth

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, has announced a two-week ICSSR-sponsored Capacity Building Programme on “Regional Economic Growth and Data Analysis” scheduled from 23 March to 4 April 2026.

Mumbai: The School of Development Studies at TISS will organise a 12-day intensive programme aimed at strengthening theoretical and empirical understanding of spatial and regional economic growth. Designed primarily for early-career academics, the course focuses on bridging gaps in development studies through advanced theoretical engagement and hands-on data analysis.

Participants will be trained in open-source tools such as QGIS, R, and GeoDA for spatial and econometric modelling, using publicly available datasets from government and international sources. The programme will also include field immersion exercises in Mumbai, enabling participants to work with real-world, field-collected data.

The initiative seeks to enhance academic capacity in regional economics, economic geography, and development studies, especially in light of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s emphasis on global academic engagement.
