Pune: The Faculty of Education at Symbiosis International University (SIU) has organised the International Conference on the Internationalization of Higher Education (IHE) from 9th to 11th April, 2026.
The theme for the 2026 edition of the conference is “Transnational Education in Transition: Practices, Policies and Perspectives.” It is a cross-border collaboration led by Symbiosis that will examine the rapid evolution of the mobility of global higher education through various policies and theoretical perspectives.
The three-day conference will begin with paper presentations and a pre-conference vice chancellors’ roundtable on the first day. It will be followed by panel discussions on the second and third days.
Speakers for the second and third days include policymakers and government officials as well academics from educational institutions in India and around the world, such as Amity University, Mumbai; Sikkim Manipal University; Savitribai Phule University, Pune; the University of Melbourne; Deakin University, Australia; the Istituto Europeo di Design.
The conference is aimed at discussing the idea of transnational education (TNE) in the context of its impact on individuals and higher education institutions (HEIs) at large, as well as its impact on nationwide systems and policies like India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It will also look at opportunities resulting from the opening up of HEIs on a global scale; challenges faced by small-scale HEIs in the competition against massive education hubs like EduCity in Navi Mumbai; technology and innovation in TNE; best ethical practices, equity and inclusion.
