State Of The Art Training And Sports Infrastructure Inaugurated At INS Shivaji In Lonavla.

*An Inaugural match was also played between Indian Navy and IOCL Hockey teams.

Pune: INS Shivaji, Lonavla, the Premier Marine Engineering Training Establishment of the Indian Navy, added three more State of the Art facilities to its existing wide array of training infrastructure on 05 Mar 22 in presence of Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi, AVSM, NM, Flag Officer Commanding-in- Chief, Southern Naval Command. These facilities include an FIH Certified AstroTurf Hockey Field, a Station Store Complex and a Hybrid Training Complex.

The Hockey field was inaugurated by Legendary Indian Hockey Player Padmashri Dhanraj Pillay and Avtar Singh, MCELR, (Retd) who is a distinguished sportsman himself, and is well known for his stellar contribution to Indian Hockey by coaching many National & International players. An Inaugural match was also played between Indian Navy and IOCL Hockey teams, which featured several current and ex- Olympians.
The station complex, which houses multiple stores and offices under a single roof was inaugurated by Narayan Attimarad, CHMECH (Retd), Shaurya Chakra, a veteran of the 1971 Indo-Pak war and alumni of INS Shivaji.

Deeksha, a multidisciplinary Hybrid Training Complex was inaugurated by Dr VP Singh, Scientist ‘H’ Retd, the principle of erstwhile Naval College of Engineering. The addition of these facilities reiterates the establishment’s constant efforts towards the development of world-class facilities for enhancing the training value and overall personality development of Indian and International Trainees.
