Pune: The Department of Economics at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will organise a guest lecture on “Informal Sector and Labour Market in India” on January 22, focusing on key challenges and trends shaping employment in the country.
The lecture will be delivered by Shrabana Mukherjee, UGC Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Informal Sector and Labour Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. The session will examine the structure, functioning and policy implications of India’s informal economy, which employs a majority of the country’s workforce.
The event is being coordinated by Dr. Meenal Annachhatre, Faculty Coordinator, under the guidance of Prof. Surbhi Jain, Head of the Department of Economics. The lecture is expected to benefit students, researchers and faculty members interested in labour economics, development studies and public policy.
