Nagpur Marks Beginning of National Startup Network

The Society for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (SINE) at IIT Bombay has launched a National Hub-and-Spoke Initiative aimed at strengthening connections between academic institutions, incubators and entrepreneurship organisations across India.

The initiative seeks to build a more connected startup ecosystem by enabling institutions to collaborate on areas such as incubation, mentoring, investor connections, capacity building and technology commercialisation.

SINE IIT Bombay Signs MoU with VNIT Ventures Vault Foundation

As part of the initiative, SINE IIT Bombay brought together 10 academic institutions and incubation organisations in Nagpur on October 12, 2026, to explore opportunities for collaboration and regional ecosystem development.

The programme also marked the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SINE and the VNIT Ventures Vault Foundation (V3F). The partnership is the first institutional collaboration under the National Hub-and-Spoke Initiative.

Initiative to Support Technology and Deep-Tech Entrepreneurship

Through the proposed network, participating institutions will collaborate on co-incubation, mentoring, investor connect, capacity building and technology commercialisation.

The initiative aims to strengthen regional startup ecosystems by connecting institutions and enabling them to collectively support emerging technology and deep-tech ventures.

For students and aspiring entrepreneurs, such institutional networks can be relevant as they highlight the growing role of academic institutions and incubation centres in supporting technology-led entrepreneurship.
