Kolhapur: The Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Development Centre at Shivaji University will host its annual Phule-Shahu-Ambedkar Week from 10th April to 14th April, 2026.
Lectures and cultural programmes have been organised throughout the week to commemorate the contributions and philosophies of social reformers Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. All events are to take place on the university campus itself.
The Lecture Series for the Week includes the following.
- Day 1 (10th April, 2026): “Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Dhamma Chintan” by Prof. Sukumar Kamble
- Day 2 (11th April, 2026): “The True Humanistic Religion of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule” by Principal G.P. Mali
- Day 3 (12th April, 2026): “Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj’s Work Towards Creating an Egalitarian Society” by Prof. Ramesh Jadhav
- Day 5 (14th April, 2026): “The International Perspective of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Thought” by Prof. Dr. Prashant Bansode
A seminar on Prof. Dr. Prakash Kamble’s book, “Economist Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar” with panelists Dr. Praveen Jadhav and Dr. Girish More will be held on 13th April, 2026. It will be followed by the Salam Samvidhan Bhim Geet music programme later on the same day.
A procession carrying the statue of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar will be led on 14th April, 2026, which is the final day of the commemorative week and the birth anniversary of the social reformer.
