Kolhapur: Shivaji University has announced admissions to its distance and online education programmes through the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE). The University is offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses aligned with the framework of the National Education Policy 2020.
The distance education wing, approved by the University Grants Commission – Distance Education Bureau (UGC-DEB), provides programmes such as BA, B.Com, MA, M.Com, M.Sc. (Mathematics), along with online certificate courses. The initiative aims to expand access to higher education through flexible learning options for students, working professionals, and competitive examination aspirants.
According to the university, the programmes offer multiple academic pathways including the option of dual degrees and a wide range of courses across disciplines. The learning system includes extensive digital resources and recorded lectures to support independent learning. The university states that students will have access to more than 1,500 video lectures and over 400 hours of self-learning material.
The courses are intended for a broad group of learners, including youth seeking degrees, candidates preparing for civil services and state competitive examinations such as UPSC and MPSC, as well as working professionals, entrepreneurs, and individuals looking to continue education alongside employment.
The university has also indicated that students will receive academic guidance from experienced faculty and will have opportunities for career counselling and skill development.
With flexible learning formats and digitally supported coursework, Shivaji University’s distance and online education programmes aim to broaden access to higher education for learners across Maharashtra and beyond. The initiative reflects the growing emphasis on blended and remote learning models encouraged under the National Education Policy 2020.
