Savitribai Phule Pune University Launches UPSC–MPSC Coaching Programme 2025–26

University-run competitive exam coaching in collaboration with Pune Municipal Corporation aims to strengthen civil services preparation

Pune:  The Competitive Examinations Centre (CEC) of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), has announced admissions for its UPSC–MPSC Coaching Programme for the academic year 2025–26. The programme is being conducted in association with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and is designed to support students aspiring for careers in civil services and administrative roles.

The initiative reflects the growing demand for structured, affordable, and high-quality coaching for competitive examinations, especially within Maharashtra. The programme will be conducted at the university level and follows the latest UPSC and MPSC examination patterns, with a strong focus on General Studies and CSAT. The entrance test notification will be published in the News and Announcements section of the SPPU website.

Programme Overview:

The coaching programme will run for a duration of 11 months and will include regular evening classes from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Teaching will be carried out by experienced and expert faculty members, with dedicated sessions for answer writing, essay preparation, and conceptual clarity.

Students’ academic progress will be continuously assessed through periodic evaluations, ensuring steady preparation from the beginning of the course until the examination stage. The intake capacity for the programme is 50 seats in the open category and 100 seats for reserved categories.

Admission and Selection Process: 

Admission to the programme will be based on an entrance test, depending on the number of applications received. The entrance examination will assess candidates on General Studies and CSAT, aligned with UPSC and MPSC preliminary examination standards.

Candidates who have passed Intermediate (12th standard) or higher are eligible to apply. Applicants must be residents within the Pune Municipal Corporation limits and submit required documents such as domicile proof, Aadhaar card, and residence certificates.

As per PMC rules, no application or course fee is charged. However, selected candidates are required to deposit a refundable caution money of ₹1,000 with PMC. Reservation policies will be followed strictly according to PMC norms.

General Studies Coverage Includes:

  • GS Paper I: Indian, World, and Maharashtra History; Geography; Society

  • GS Paper II: Indian Polity, Constitution, Governance, and Public Institutions

  • GS Paper III: Science and Technology, Indian Economy, Environment, Ecology, and Biodiversity

  • GS Paper IV: Ethics, Integrity, Public Values, and Aptitude

  • CSAT: Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, English and Marathi Comprehension

Additional support will be provided through optional subject guidance, world mapping workshops, personality development sessions, interview guidance, and regular test series.

Students enrolled in the programme will have access to a well-equipped library, a dedicated reading hall with Wi-Fi, audio-visual enabled classrooms, and curated newspapers and magazines for current affairs preparation.
