PM Modi Visits Pune; Schools and Universities Observe a Holiday

In lieu of the PM’s visit to Pune, many schools and universities observe a holiday owing to expected traffic diversions, road closures, and heightened security measures.

Pune: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Maharashtra's Pune city has prompted several schools to declare a holiday today. In light of expected traffic diversions, road closures, and heightened security measures, some schools have taken the independent decision to remain closed. However, the state education department has yet to officially issue a notice for a Pune school holiday. Rajendra Ahire, Deputy Director of Education, clarified, "We have not issued any official notice to schools to shut down today."

Given the security measures, it is advisable for students and parents to contact their respective schools to check the status. Some schools have opted to conduct online classes to ensure minimal disruption to the student's education.

PM Modi's Pune Visit:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Pune city to confer the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak National Award and lay the foundation stone for various development projects in the city. The Lokmanya Tilak Award is bestowed upon individuals who have made significant contributions to the progress and development of the nation.

As per the schedule provided by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), PM Modi is set to visit Pune and perform Darshan and Pooja at Dagdusheth Mandir around 11 am. At 11:45 am, he will be presented with the Lokmanya Tilak National Award.

Later, at 12:45 pm, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Waste to Energy Plant under the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), a project developed at a cost of about Rs 300 crores.

Traffic Advisory:

To facilitate the movement of VIP and VVIP dignitaries' vehicles during the PM's visit, the Pune traffic police have issued an advisory for commuters to avoid specific routes in the city. The affected roads and traffic junctions include Pune University Square, Budhwar Chowk, Sangamwadi Chowk, Fergusson College Road, and others. These traffic restrictions will be effective from 6 am to 3 pm today. Commuters are advised to plan alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.

Additionally, as part of the city's development initiatives, PM Modi will also be flagging off metro trains and inaugurating various development projects, aiming to enhance connectivity and infrastructure in Pune.

Furthermore, in a mission to achieve "housing for all," the Prime Minister will personally hand over more than 1,280 houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by PCMC.

As schools and universities observe a holiday today in light of the Prime Minister's visit, citizens are urged to cooperate with the traffic restrictions and security arrangements to ensure a smooth and successful event.
