National Symposium on Education and Social Inclusion to be Held at Shivaji University, Kolhapur

An interdisciplinary academic platform to examine inclusive education, policy gaps, and social justice in India

Kolhapur: The Centre for the Study of Social Inclusion, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, is organizing a National Symposium focused on the theme of Education and Social Inclusion. The symposium aims to bring together academicians, researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and students to critically engage with issues of equity, access, and inclusion in education within the Indian and global context.

The symposium is designed to foster critical dialogue and interdisciplinary research around inclusive education. It aims to examine the concept of social inclusion in education, analyze structural and institutional barriers, and assess the impact of recent educational policies on marginalized communities.

The event also emphasizes innovative teaching practices, digital tools, and community-based models that promote inclusive learning environments. By doing so, it hopes to bridge the gap between policy and practice and create space for meaningful academic exchange.

Call for Submissions

Scholars and researchers are invited to submit papers aligning with the following themes:

  • Education and social inclusion: concepts and perspectives

  • Inclusive education and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4)

  • Caste, tribe, gender, and educational inequalities

  • Education of persons with disabilities

  • Digital divide and technology for inclusive learning

  • First-generation learners and higher education

  • Policy–practice gaps in inclusive education

  • Teacher education and inclusive pedagogies

  • Community engagement and grassroots innovations
