Mumbai: The Department of Law, University of Mumbai, has recently released the guidelines for the Online LL.M. Common Entrance Test (CET) for the academic year 2023-2024. This prestigious entrance exam aims to offer admission to the LL.M. (Two Years) Programme, catering to candidates who have successfully completed their LL.B. or are in the final stages of their 3 or 5-year LL.B. from the University of Mumbai or other recognized institutions.
Eligibility Criteria and Application Process
Aspiring candidates can apply for the Online LL.M. CET Exam 2023 if they have fulfilled the criteria of having passed LL.B. or appeared for the final semester examinations of the 3 or 5-year LL.B. programme from either the University of Mumbai or other recognized universities. Candidates currently pursuing LL.M. are required to withdraw their earlier LL.M. admission to be eligible for the LL.M. CET 2023.
The application process is solely online, with the application form available on the official website: https://forms.epravesh.com/MumbaiUniversityLaw/. The application window is open from August 12, 2023, to August 21, 2023.
Examination Details
The LL.M. Entrance Examination will consist of 50 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering various legal subjects, with a total mark allocation of 100. Candidates must secure at least 40 marks for the General Category and 30 marks for Reserved Categories to be considered for admission. Importantly, there will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.
The examination is scheduled for August 31, 2023, with a flexible time range of 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., allowing candidates to choose a suitable slot within this window. The language of the exam paper can be either English or Marathi.
Admission and Fee Structure
Admission to the LL.M. Programme for the academic year 2023-2024 will be strictly in line with the LL.M. CET 2023 merit list, the Maharashtra Government's reservation policy, and the University of Mumbai's rules and regulations. General category candidates are required to pay a non-refundable entrance exam fee of Rs. 650, while reserved category candidates (SC, ST, VJ/DT, NT, OBC, SBC, EWS) need to pay Rs. 350.
Important Information for Applicants
Candidates belonging to reserved categories must provide relevant documentation, such as caste certificates issued by the Government of Maharashtra. The University of Mumbai also emphasizes the availability of helpline numbers for technical and form-related queries, further enhancing the support for applicants throughout the process.
It's worth noting that the LL.M. CET Exam is conducted entirely online, with automated evaluation. The resulting scores will only be valid for the academic year 2023-2024.
