Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Maharashtra National Law University Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar will organise the Senior Advocate Late Shri P.M. Shah National Client Counselling Competition 2026 on March 14 and 15, 2026 at its campus. The competition honours the legacy of Senior Advocate Pravin Mukutlal Shah, a distinguished lawyer and former member and Vice-Chairman of the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa.
The competition is being organised jointly by the university’s Centre for Alternate Dispute Resolution (CADR) and the Centre for International Corporate and Commercial Laws (CICCL). It aims to develop practical lawyering skills such as client interaction, problem analysis, legal reasoning, and professional communication among law students.
The event will simulate a law office consultation, where teams of two participants act as legal counsel and interview a client to understand legal issues and propose solutions. Participants will receive a written problem statement and conduct a counselling session evaluated by judges on parameters such as listening skills, legal analysis, teamwork, and professional conduct.
Students enrolled in three-year or five-year law programmes from universities across India are eligible to participate. The competition will feature multiple rounds including preliminary, quarter-final, semi-final, and final stages, with selected teams advancing based on their performance.
The organisers expect the event to encourage experiential learning and strengthen advocacy and counselling abilities among aspiring lawyers.
