Maharashtra to Upgrade 412 Govt Schools into Ambedkar Adarsh Shalas in Phase 1

Maharashtra will upgrade 412 government schools into model “Adarsh Shalas” in the first phase of a larger 1,500-school plan.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has decided to upgrade 412 government schools across the state into Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Adarsh Shalas as part of a larger plan.

The aim of this is to improve both the quality of education and basic facilities in government schools. Selected schools from Samuh Sadan Kendra, PM Shri and Vidyaniketan categories will be developed into model institutions.

These schools will be allowed to offer classes up to Class 10 so students can continue their education without shifting. District officials will prepare development plans, which will be approved by higher authorities.

The government is also focusing on improving facilities such as clean drinking water, better sanitation and ‘Pink Rooms’ for girls to make schools more comfortable.

In addition, one school in each district will be developed as a Sports Prabodhini to encourage sports along with academics.

Officials believe this plan will help improve the overall standard of government schools, especially for students in rural areas.
