Akola: In collaboration with universities like Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV) at Akola, and Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth (MPKV) at Rahuri, as well the non-profit organisation, Agrovision Foundation at Nagpur, Krushishastra Agrotech & Services, Maharashtra, is organising “Agribionext—Gene to Genome,” an international summer school on next-generation agriculture. Developed by leading international researchers, academicians and industry experts, this programme will be centered on Integrative Biotechnology and Bioinformatics for Sustainable Crop and Livestock Improvement.
Participants will have an opportunity to not only gain exhaustive knowledge related to modern biotechnology and bioinformatics in agriculture, including the formation of a strong base in molecular biology and bioinformatics tools. They will receive hands-on exposure to techniques like DNA/RNA extraction and polymerase chain reaction (PCR); advanced sessions on genome-wide association study (GWAS), RNA sequencing, Transcriptomics, and gene editing and next-gen breeding; sessions on digital agriculture, AI-integration, and genomic selection; insights into commercialisation and start-ups; insights into Agri-Biotech innovations; and exposure to global research trends. Such a comprehensive understanding of the subject would enable participants to balance research, innovation and the impact of biotechnology and bioinformatics, thereby contributing towards the growth of sustainable agriculture.
The summer school is an intensive, 21-day programme that will be conducted in the virtual mode. Live sessions will be held for 1-2 hours each day from 16th May, 2026, to 5th June, 2026. With a limited number of seats, the Summer School is open to students from undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes, teaching faculty, researchers, industry professionals, as well as entrepreneurs and agricultural innovators.
At the end of the programme, participants will receive a certificate of completion on the basis of their attendance and participation.
