ITM Skills University Launches AI First MCA to Prepare Future Tech Leaders

An AI-first Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme, recently launched by ITM Skills University, is designed for students looking to build a career in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, GenAI, and Cybersecurity. The four-semester programme is the result of collaboration with more than 30 technology professionals and to prepare students with the tech skills required for the future, the programme includes a lot of engagement with the industry, lots of projects, research, and a six-month internship.

Mumbai, July 2026: In a first-of-its-kind initiative, ITM Skills University has introduced an AI-driven Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program. Spanning over four semesters, this program has been designed to meet the requirements of the present-day tech industry. With inputs from over thirty tech industry veterans, graduates of the program are expected to be both employable and relevant.

Considering the differentiating skills required by the industry, the program aims at the holistic development of students' technical and professional skills with the progression of semesters. The foundational semester includes training on Python, SQL and Data Structures and Algorithms, in addition to Database Systems, Fundamentals of AI, Linux, Git, and communication skills. With the foundational semester complete, students participate in project-based learning and are trained on Software Engineering and its Automation, Machine Learning, APIs, Data Visualization, and Business and Agile Fundamentals.

With the completion of the third semester, students participate in capstone projects and are free to choose electives in either Generative AI (GenAI), Data Science, or Cybersecurity. The semester also includes mock interviews, GitHub port-folio development, and advanced industry-specific coursework.

Prior to exiting the program, students are expected to complete a six-month full-time internship. Along with the internship, students present a research paper in either the IEEE or ACM format and undergo a final industry review viva.

In her comments on the program, Dr. Lakshmi Mohan, Pro Vice Chancellor, ITM Skills University, said:

The program is designed to create experts in the following fields:

  • Machine Learning and AI Engineer
  • Large Language Model/Generative AI Developer
  • Data Scientist
  • Data Engineer
  • Cloud Security Engineer

The salary range for the above job roles is expected to be between ₹7 LPA and ₹16 LPA, with ample room for growth.
