ITM IHM Introduces IATA Pathway to Unlock Global Aviation Careers

ITM Institute of Hotel Management has added the IATA Foundation in Travel & Tourism pathway to its degree program, providing opportunities to its students to build careers in the fields of airlines, airports, travel and tourism, cruise lines and global travel organisations, and get international work experience and training focused on the industry.

Mumbai, July 2026: With an emphasis on a progressive outlook, the ITM Institute of Hotel Management (ITM IHM) is proud to be the first institution in India to provide the option of an integrated IATA Foundation in Travel & Tourism diploma within the bounds of its hospitality degree program. This initiative supports the growth of career opportunities in the Travel & Tourism sector for its graduates. As a result of the offering, ITM IHM graduates will have more diverse employment opportunities with airlines, airports, cruise-lines, travel organizations, and global tourism enterprises.

With its IATA pathway, ITM IHM aims to produce graduates with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the global travel industry and the frameworks of international standards.

The IATA pathway is supported by ITM IHM’s unique global education structure that facilitates a multitude of international internships and employment opportunities in countries including Mauritius, the USA, France, New Zealand, and the UAE. The combination of travel and aviation operations and hospitality service excellence empowers the graduates of ITM IHM with the flexibility to work in any field of the global mobility industry.

This initiative is already producing results for students, demonstrated by the recent placements of Abdu Sami and Harshal Kshirsagar as Associate Operations at WNS and Amy Philip’s placement as a Customer Care Advisor at Cathay Pacific, as well as Prachita Rane’s role as a Fulfilment Agent at Etraveli.

Through this certification, students will have a comprehensive understanding of airline operations and ticketing, global reservation systems, passenger services, and travel by air. Students will also have the ability to utilize GDS, advise clients on travel document requirements, and design travel itineraries with an assortment of services.

While the IATA exam is optional and costly, the integrated pathway is a part of the educational journey and is provided for students pursuing a career in aviation, travel, and tourism.

This program by ITM IHM shows its dedication to developing students' prospects for international careers outside of traditional roles in hospitality. By giving students access to IATA's internationally recognized program in the same learning environment, students can gain more specialized skills and knowledge in the area of aviation, travel and tourism, while studying for their degree, and become more specialized in the new opportunities in the global mobility industry.

Describing this program, Dr. Purva Tawde, Director, ITM Institute of Hotel Management, says :

“The hospitality sector of the future is going to have links to the global travel and tourism sector. The IATA pathway provides international exposure for our students and opens career avenues in hospitality, aviation and travel services.”
