Mumbai, June 2026: ITM Institute of Design & Media (IDM) has set a new benchmark by being the first design school in India to incorporate AI across all five Bachelor of Design programmes. Launched this year, the AI-integrated curriculum spans Animation & VFX, UX Design, Visual Communication, Fashion Design and Interior Design and aims to prepare students to thrive in the technology-based creative industry.
IDM believes that designers who learn to integrate and work alongside emerging technologies will have the ability to adapt to and meet the challenges of the ever-changing creative industry. IDM has embedded the technologies into the core learning experience and has a strong focus on the application of technology. The goal is to allow students to graduate with confidence in their creativity and with the necessary skills. All students use the relevant tools that are now shaping creative practice across the globe.
These tools include Maya, Unreal Engine, Runway ML, Midjourney, Firefly, Figma, Adobe XD, and AI-based prompt engineering, CLO 3D, Krea AI, SketchUp, V-Ray, RoomGPT, and other Adobe tools. The curriculum uses a practice-based approach to learning and complements the formal learning of design and technology-based skills with a four-month paid industry placement. In the process, students create professional portfolios and learn how technology can enhance creativity.
"We introduced them from the first day of learning because we didn’t want our students to learn about these tools only after the industry had already moved on. With the tools in their hands from the very beginning, students learn how to work with the tools as extensions of their own creativity, and not as replacements,” says Ms. Nisha Chanda, Director, ITM Institute of Design & Media.
The institute focuses on promoting design education and teaching students to use technology as a creative tool.
