UCEED 2027 Eligibility: Who can apply?
UCEED has a notably broad academic eligibility route. Students from Science, Commerce, Arts and Humanities can appear, provided that they satisfy the prescribed conditions. Candidates should have appeared for their Class 12 or equivalent examination for the first time in 2026 or 2027. Those who first appeared in class 12 in 2025 or before are generally not eligible, subject to the specific exception mentioned in IIT Bombay for boards for whom the 2024-25 results were declared after September 30, 2025.
There is an age criterion. Candidates in the OPEN/EWS/OBC-NCL categories must have been born on or after October 1, 2002, for the corresponding date for SC/ST/PwD candidates is October 1, 1997. A candidate can attempt UCEED a maximum of two times in consecutive years. For B.Des admission, the participating institutes have additional subject specific requirements. For example, students with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics can apply to all seven participating institutes, while those from other streams have a more restricted set of institutes available to them.
CEED 2027 Eligibility Criteria
CEED is for candidates looking for postgraduate-level design opportunities. Applicants must have completed a degree, diploma or postgraduate degree programme of at least three years after class 12, or be appearing for the final examination of such a programme by July 2027.
Candidates who have passed the five-year Government Diploma in Art (G.D. Art) after class 10 by July 2027 are also eligible. CEED qualification does not itself guarantee admission. Candidates must separately apply to participating institutes and meet their individual admission requirements, which may involve additional tests or interviews.
CEED UCEED 2027 Application Fee
For Indian candidates, the registration fee is:
- ₹2,000: Female candidates and SC/ST/PwD candidates
- ₹4,000: All other candidates
- Late fee: ₹500 in addition to the regular fee
The UCEED website says that the registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable; Foreign-national fee structures differ according to nationality and OCI/PIO status.
What do CEED and UCEED test?
UCEED is a three-hour centre-based examination for undergraduate design admissions. It tests design aptitude and related abilities. CEED 2027 is two-part examination. Part A is comprised of computer-based objective questions, while Part B tests design, drawing and writing skills through answers written in an answer book.
IIT Bombay calculates the CEED final score using 25% of Part A marks and 75% of Part B marks. That difference is worth noting: CEED cannot be reduced to the solving of objective questions. Candidates also have to demonstrate visualisation, drawing and written design thinking.

For UCEED, the results are due on March 6, 2027, followed by the B.Des application process from March 15. For CEED, results are due on March 3, 2027, with scorecards available from March 10.
