Mumbai: In response to the increasing demand for skilled project management professionals in today's complex business landscape, the Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai), formerly known as the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), has announced the launch of its Executive Certificate Program in Advanced Project Management and Analytics. This industry-focused program aims to equip executives with the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to excel in project management and meet the challenges posed by the volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment.
Projected to start in September 2023, the program will be conducted through live online sessions, enabling professionals from various corners of the world to enhance their expertise in project management. With a duration of 7 to 8 months, the program is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of advanced analytic techniques and project management methodologies.
The Project Management field has been identified as a critical component for organizations worldwide, with a predicted demand for 25 million new professionals by 2030, according to the Project Management Institute's (PMI) 2021 report. The increasing complexity of the VUCA environment has necessitated a shift towards "Mission Mode" operations, emphasizing the need for skilled professionals capable of delivering projects on time, within budget, and with high-quality outcomes. Unfortunately, more than half of all projects currently fail to meet these criteria.
IIM Mumbai’s Executive Certificate Program intends to bridge this gap by offering a rigorous curriculum taught by a distinguished faculty with extensive research and consulting experience in project management. The program encompasses live interactions with both academic and industry experts, along with hands-on sessions on project management and other essential software tools. Moreover, participants will benefit from a unique 3-day campus immersion experience to further enhance their practical skills.
Eligibility for the program requires candidates to hold a Graduate (10+2+3) or Diploma (only 10+2+3) degree from a recognized university, along with a minimum of 3 years of work experience for graduates or 5 years for diploma holders. The selection process involves assessing the candidate's profile, academic record, professional roles and responsibilities, along with a write-up detailing their expectations from the program. Additionally, a short aptitude test might be administered to gauge the participants' suitability.
The program's fee structure includes an application fee of INR 1000/- + GST, and a program fee of INR 140,000/- + GST.
