Mumbai : The Indian Institute of Management Mumbai has announced the launch of a new four-year undergraduate programme aimed at preparing students for leadership roles in digitally driven business environments.
The newly introduced course, titled Bachelor’s Programme in Digital Science and Business Management, represents a major expansion of IIM Mumbai’s academic portfolio and reflects the institute’s response to the growing demand for professionals skilled in both technology and management.
Formerly known as the National Institute of Industrial Engineering, IIM Mumbai stated that the programme has been designed to address the changing needs of organisations operating in an era of rapid digital transformation. The institute aims to develop graduates who can effectively bridge the gap between advanced digital systems and strategic business decision-making.
Curriculum Integrating Technology and Core Management
According to IIM Mumbai, the programme curriculum blends emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, the Internet of Things, and robotics with fundamental management disciplines.
Students will gain exposure to key business areas including operations, marketing, finance, and manufacturing, enabling them to understand how digital technologies influence organisational strategy, productivity, and innovation.
The institute emphasised that this integrated approach will help students develop strong analytical capabilities along with sound managerial judgement, preparing them for complex roles in technology-enabled enterprises.
Emphasis on Holistic Skill Development
IIM Mumbai noted that the undergraduate programme focuses on building well-rounded professionals equipped to handle real-world business challenges. Students will be trained to analyse data, interpret digital systems, and apply management principles across diverse industry contexts.
The institute added that the programme aligns with its long-standing commitment to industry relevance, experiential learning, and practical application of knowledge.
Pune Campus to Host Undergraduate Studies
The bachelor’s programme will be offered at a dedicated campus in Pune, which will function as an extension of IIM Mumbai. The Pune Municipal Corporation has agreed to provide a building for the initiative, which will be renovated to meet academic and operational requirements.
IIM Mumbai stated that the Pune campus will support the institute’s efforts to expand access to high-quality undergraduate education while upholding its academic standards and institutional ethos.
