HBSU Opens Admissions for 2026–27; Offers Multidisciplinary UG and PG Programmes Across Heritage Colleges

Mumbai: Dr. Homi Bhabha State University (HBSU), Mumbai, has announced the opening of admissions for the academic year 2026–2027 across its constituent colleges, offering a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework.

Established in 2019 as Maharashtra’s first cluster university under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), HBSU brings together some of Mumbai’s oldest and most reputed institutions, including Elphinstone College, the Institute of Science, Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics, the Institute of Forensic Science, Secondary Training College, and SIMSREE

The university offers multidisciplinary programmes in Arts, Commerce, Science, Forensic Science, Management, and Education. Undergraduate options include B.A., B.Com., B.Sc. (with specialisations such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Cyber Security and Digital Forensics), B.Sc. Forensic Science, and B.Ed. Postgraduate courses range from M.Sc. in core sciences and Data Science to M.A. Applied Psychology, M.Com., Master of Management Studies (MMS), and specialised PG Diplomas.

Under the NEP-aligned credit framework, students are offered flexibility through a Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), enabling interdisciplinary learning and credit mobility across constituent colleges.

Eligibility for undergraduate programmes requires successful completion of the XII/HSC examination or equivalent. Specific streams are mandatory for certain courses, such as Science for B.Sc. programmes and Commerce/Science for B.Com. Some specialised courses may require bridge courses in Mathematics.

The university also highlights student support facilities, including hostels, sports access through an MoU with the University of Mumbai, well-equipped libraries, placement services, counselling support, and active NSS participation.
