Pune: Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE), in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), will host a National Conclave on “Next-Gen GST & the Road to Viksit Bharat @ 2047” on Friday, March 13, 2026. The day-long event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m..
The conclave aims to examine how the Goods and Services Tax (GST) framework must evolve to support India’s goal of becoming a developed economy by 2047. The discussions will focus on tax reforms, regulatory innovation and the broader economic policies required to strengthen India’s fiscal architecture in the coming decades.
The event will bring together prominent economists, policy experts and industry leaders including Prof. Santishree Pandit (Vice-Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru University), Dr. Nitin Kareer (Chairman, Maharashtra State Finance Commission), Shri Vivek Johri (former Chairman, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs) and several other experts in taxation and public policy.
The conclave will feature multiple panel discussions covering topics as sectoral impacts of next-generation GST, simplifying tax compliance for businesses and MSMEs, and institutional reforms needed to improve GST implementation and efficiency.
Panel sessions will include contributions from academics and practitioners such as economists from IIT Mumbai and JNU, GST officials, consulting professionals, and policy specialists, offering perspectives from both government and industry.
