New Delhi. The government told Parliament on Tuesday that four vaccines have been approved for children below 18 years of age.Currently, children above 12 years of age are being vaccinated. The government has also said that most of the targeted beneficiaries have been vaccinated, hence the pace of vaccination has slowed down.

Union Minister of State for Health, Bharti Praveen Pawar, in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, said that the four vaccines that have been approved for children are Zydus Cadila’s Zycov-D (12 years and above), Bharat Biotech’s Covaccine (2 to 18 years). years), Biologicals E’s Corbevax (for 5 to 18 years age group) and Serum Institute of India’s Kovovax (for 12-18 years age group).

He said that while expanding the scope of the vaccination campaign against Coronavirus, children in the age group of 12-14 years were also included in it on 16 March. He said that the program of vaccination is prepared on the recommendation of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI).

In a written reply to a question related to the expiry of the corona vaccine stored in hospitals, Bharti Pawar told the Rajya Sabha that the government is monitoring the stock of vaccines and their consumption in the states and union territories, so that they are used more and less. be a waste

He further said that the vaccine is supplied to the states based on their demand. Vaccines have been made available in sufficient quantities to the states to administer the first, second and vigilance doses to the beneficiaries.

In a written reply to another question, Bharti Pawar said that under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) till March 16, 8.7 lakh patients of Corona have been hospitalized and treated free of cost. Along with this, 50.6 lakh investigations related to corona have also been done under this scheme. He said that under the scheme, treatment of corona infected has been done under the general and special Covid package.
