Pune: Department of Design, Art and Performance (Theatre and Performance Studies) of Flame University, Pune organizes a workshop on ‘Playwriting’ with Shanta Gokhale on Tuesday, 8th February 2022 . The timings are from 2:10 p.m. to 4.15 p.m. The mode of conduction will be online. Students, faculty and others are eligible for the workshop.

          Shanta Gokhale is a well known translator and writer of novels, plays, short stories, film scripts and innumerable newspaper articles. She writes in Marathi and English. Gokhale has written and edited several books on theatre including Playwright at the Centre and The Scenes We Made: An Oral History of Experimental Theatre. Shanta Gokhale has received prestigious awards including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and the lifetime achievement award at Tata Literature Live.

         Shanta Gokhale will speak to students and faculty online about the play as a form and its uniqueness in relation to other written forms of expressions and performance making, the process of writing a play and the challenges a writer faces in the process, and the work that one needs to do while developing basic elements such characterisation, plot and dialogue.
