DAE invites applications for Doctoral Fellowship Scheme 2026–27

Engineering postgraduates can pursue PhD at premier DAE institutions under HBNI; applications open till January 21

Mumbai: The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, has invited applications for the DAE Doctoral Fellowship Scheme (DDFS) for the academic year 2026–27. The fellowship offers engineering postgraduates an opportunity to pursue a PhD under the aegis of the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) at leading DAE research centres across the country.

Under the DDFS-2026, selected candidates will be enrolled for doctoral research at premier DAE institutions, including Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC), and Institute for Plasma Research (IPR).

The scheme is aimed at encouraging high-quality doctoral research in advanced areas of engineering and nuclear science. Fellows will work in state-of-the-art laboratories and contribute to India’s expanding nuclear power and strategic research programmes.

According to the notification, the fellowship provides an opportunity to undertake challenging doctoral research while building a long-term career in advanced science and technology within the DAE ecosystem.
