A new round of technical recruitment at the CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI), Nagpur, has started. The Institute has published advertisement no. CSIR-NEERI/1/2026 to fill 13 vacancies of Technical Assistant and Technical Officer. Applications for advertised posts can be filled online at the CSIR-NEERI recruitment portal from 16 September, 2026 at 10 AM to 15 October, 2026 at 5 PM.

13 Vacancies Across Technical Roles

Eligibility Criteria

The applicants must have a B.Sc. or equivalent degree with 60% marks and a minimum of one year of experience in Science Communication from an accredited institute or organization to apply for the Technical Assistant (TA-01) post. Selected candidates will be involved with science communication, policy, and project-management-related activities. The eligibility criteria for the Technical Officer position vary for different posts.

For instance, a B.E./B. Tech in Civil Engineering with 55% marks are required for the Civil Engineering post, while the Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry, and Geology posts require an M.Sc. or equivalent degree in the respective disciplines with 55% marks. For the other posts, a B.E./B. Tech degree in Chemical Engineering or Geoinformatics is required along with 55% marks. An MBA with 55% marks is required for the management-related post. The upper age limit for the Technical Assistant post is 28 years and for the Technical Officer post is 30 years, as on the last date for submitting the online application. The relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable as per the Government of India/CSIR rules.

Salary and Benefits

The Technical Assistant position is at Pay Matrix Level 6 with an estimated total monthly allowances of ₹69,480. The Technical Officer position is at Pay Matrix Level 7, and the estimated total monthly allowances will be ₹86,580. According to the notification, the given allowances comprise basic pay, DA, HRA and TA at the minimum of the applicable scale. HRA and TA provided will be based on the place of posting and may vary accordingly.

Selected employees of CSIR will be entitled to all the allowances and benefits, including medical facilities and the Leave Travel Concession and children's education allowance as per the CSIR and Government rules.

Selection Process

Filling out an application form is just the first step in the recruitment process. The Screening Committee will decide if candidates will need to take a Trade Test. If a candidate passes the Trade Test, they will progress to the competitive written exam.

The written exam for Technical Officers consists of 200 multiple-choice questions, each worth 500 marks, and is three hours long. The exam has four sections: Mental Ability, General Awareness, English Language, and the specific subject. Paper I is a qualifying paper, while the final merit will be based on Papers II and III.

How to Apply for CSIR-NEERI Recruitment 2020

Candidates must fill out the application form only through the CSIR-NEERI recruitment portal or the institute website. The application form will be available from 16th September, 2020 at 10:00 AM, and will close on 15th October, 2020 at 5:00 PM.

The application fee is ₹500 unless stated otherwise. SC, ST, PwBD, Women and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempt as long as they submit the required supporting documents. Candidates should upload all the required supporting Educational, Category, and other supporting certificates and should keep a printout of the filled application as well. The institute states that no hard copy of the application should be submitted.
