ASI Coach Palash Tiwari Receives Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card.

*This is not an easy feat to achieve, as it is only awarded to 10 civilians per year.

Pune: Palash Tiwari, the Head Strength and Conditioning (S&C) coach at Army Sports Institute, Pune (ASI) has received the Chief of Army Staff commendation card.He received the badge from the Commanding officer of ASI in front of several other officers on January 26, 2022.

This is not an easy feat to achieve, as it is only awarded to 10 civilians per year. It is the highest award that a civilian can get from the Indian Army.

Palash Tiwari was awarded this honour for doing exceptional work for the Army and aligning with ASI’s mission of winning a gold medal.

Palash says, “I worked very closely with several Army Athletes who participated in the Tokyo Olympics. I helped in creating a holistic program to further focus on the athletic development of our top athletes. I also upgraded the training infrastructure and techniques akin to international standards.”

“The first of its kind 5500 sq ft unified ‘Strength and Conditioning Hall’ in India was put forward by me. It is now helping athletes to add external resistance to their sporting motion. A systematic approach is used to enhance the performance of athletes of all 7 sports in ASI,” he adds further.

Palash says, “Sports and the Army is a very closely-knit culture. Because of world military games, it is said that the armies don’t fight on the battlefield as they compete with each other on the sports fields; this has helped the world to reduce global wars.”

Palash Tiwari’s constant interaction with all stakeholders helped in planning a progressive curriculum. His ten years of experience in athletic training validated his teaching sessions and his lectures in the classroom. He has been instrumental in creating sports specific and need-based athletic development protocols for Army athletes participating in Tokyo Olympics. His holistic approach to athletic development helped the athletes to achieve peak performance for competitions.
