102 Students from Pune district returned safely from Ukraine.

*Central and state governments, as well as district administrations, have been working tirelessly to bring back students from Ukraine.

Pune: Due to the war situation in Ukraine, the government has succeeded in bringing back 102 students from the Pune district who went to Ukraine for medical education.

District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh congratulated Shakambhari Londhepatil, a student who has returned from Ukraine, on her bravery by giving her a bouquet of flowers at the Collectorate and inquired about the situation there.

District Collector Dr Deshmukh appreciated Shakambhari’s courage. She faced the situation with courage, even in the face of adversity. He said that even in such a situation, her help to students from other countries is commendable.

Shankabhari briefed the district collector on the situation in Ukraine. Her father Sham Londhepatil thanked the District Collector for his cooperation.

Shakambhari said, “I was living in the southern part of Ukraine. For three days after February 24, I lived in a bunker. We had to survive on tap water as we ran out of food. After that, the Government of India, the Government of Maharashtra and especially District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh helped us a lot. The collector was very patient over the phone. I thank all officials who helped us.”

Central and state governments, as well as district administrations, have been working tirelessly to bring back students from Ukraine. As per the instructions of the District Collector, the District Control Room was started under the guidance of Resident Deputy Collector Himmat Kharade to provide information to the parents and relatives. After receiving the information of the students from the parents in the District Control Room, the information of these students was given to the State Disaster Management Room.

District Disaster Management Officer Vitthal Banote and his colleagues were in constant touch with the students on behalf of the control room. Every evening the ministry cell was informed about the place where the students were staying. The state government was informing the central government’s control room about this. The students were airlifted to India under Operation Ganga and the state government arranged for them to be brought to Maharashtra.

The administration congratulated students returning from Ukraine Out of 109 students in Ukraine, 102 have returned to Pune, 3 in Poland and 1 in Oman to their parents. The other three students are on a journey and will return to Pune soon.

At the suggestion of District Collector Dr Deshmukh, the Sub-Divisional Officer, Tehsildar, Deputy Tehsildar, Mandal Officer and Talathi visited the returning students at home and congratulated them on their safe return. The students said that information is being sought from time to time by the government and administration.
