In a significant move to bolster healthcare infrastructure and medical education in Northeast India, the Government of Mizoram has officially sanctioned the creation of several key positions for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Zoram Medical College and Hospital. This notification, issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department, is a proactive step to enhance specialized medical services available in the state. The order, approved by the Governor of Mizoram, is effective immediately and aims to address the growing need for expert care in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

The newly created department will appoint several high-ranking faculty members and medical residents. The recruitment plan includes one position each for the roles of Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor, categorized under prestigious academic pay levels ranging from Level 11 to Level 14. In addition to these faculty roles, the department is set to hire three resident doctors. This includes one Senior Resident position with a fixed monthly contract of 100,000 INR and two Junior Resident positions, each offering a fixed monthly contract of 80,000 INR. All these professional opportunities are located in Aizawl, specifically at the Zoram Medical College and Hospital campus in the Falkawn area.

This expansion represents a vital opportunity for youth and medical professionals across the country seeking to make a meaningful impact in the field of rehabilitative medicine. For young doctors and aspiring academicians, these roles offer more than just competitive compensation; they provide a platform to build a department from the ground up within a growing medical institution. Engaging with the diverse healthcare needs of Mizoram allows young professionals to develop specialized skills in a unique clinical environment while contributing to the regional goal of self-reliance in advanced medical education and public health services.
