Kolkata: The West Bengal Higher Education Department on Friday issued a notice to the State Universities asking whether they would like to conduct exams online or offline.
“Considering the present situation, the competent authorities of the universities may take suitable decision regarding mode of Examinations…,” mentioned the notice sent to the Universities.
Various Universities in West Bengal including Calcutta University colleges, Jadavpur University, Rabindra Bharati University, Burdwan University colleges have already published the dates for the offline exams.
Vice-chancellor of Calcutta University, Sonali Chakravati Banerjee, said, “Both UG and PG faculty council meeting have been called on May 20 to take a unanimous decision on this matter”; whereas after the routine for offline exams have been published by RBU, VC Sabyasachi Basu Roychowdhury said “Some students appealed for offline exams for regular and distance courses as we have been holding offline classes since February”.
Thus, Higher Education Department will hold meeting on May 20 in which decisions will be taken by the authorities regarding the mode of Examination whether to conduct online or in offline mode. Conducting offline examinations will also help to judge the merit of students.
