KOLKATA, March 18 — The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) is currently processing online applications for the upcoming WBJEE-2026, which is officially scheduled to be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026. Operating from its headquarters at RUPANNA in Salt Lake City, the Board is conducting this state-level entrance test for admissions to undergraduate courses in Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, and Architecture across various universities and colleges in West Bengal. This examination is conducted in accordance with the powers granted to the Board under Section 8 of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board Act, 2014.
The online application and fee payment process, which launched on March 10, will remain accessible to candidates until April 5, 2026. Following the conclusion of the registration period, the Board has scheduled a dedicated correction window from April 7 to April 9, 2026, allowing applicants to rectify any errors and download a revised confirmation page. Aspirants are urged to complete their filings early to avoid last-minute technical issues and to monitor the official websites, www.wbjeeb.nic.in or www.wbjeeb.in, for any tentative schedule changes that may occur due to extraordinary circumstances.
On the day of the exam, May 24, candidates will participate in two mandatory sessions: Paper-I (Mathematics) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and Paper-II (Physics & Chemistry) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.. Candidates who successfully complete their registration will be eligible to download their Admit Cards starting May 15, 2026, with the portal remaining open until 4:00 p.m. on the exam date. To be eligible for the WBJEE-2026 examination, candidates must be citizens of India or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), with OCI applicants eligible only for unreserved seats in the All-India quota. Candidates must have passed the 12th standard (10+2) or equivalent examination before 2026, or be appearing for it during the 2026 academic year. The minimum age requirement is 17 years as of December 31, 2026 (born on or before December 31, 2009), and while there is generally no upper age limit, those seeking admission to Marine Engineering must be no older than 25 years by that same date. Additionally, the candidates must have passed in English with at least 30% marks and successfully completed theoretical and practical/project exams in all required subjects.
- Academic Performance: For Engineering and Pharmacy, candidates must obtain at least 45% marks (40% for reserved categories) in three mandatory subjects taken together; however, Marine Engineering requires a higher threshold of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- Architecture Requirements: Applicants for Architecture must secure 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics combined, 50% aggregate marks in the 10+2 level, and qualify for the NATA or JEE Main Paper-II.
- Course Restrictions: While most 10+2 boards are recognized, candidates from non-formal or open schooling systems like the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) are specifically not eligible for Pharmacy courses.
- Domicile Status: To qualify for seats in Government-aided colleges, 90% of general seats at Jadavpur University, or any reserved category seats (SC, ST, OBC, etc.), candidates must provide proof of being a domicile of West Bengal.
