GANGTOK, Sikkim University, a central university established by an Act of Parliament, has issued an official notification for the recruitment of Guest Faculty members across multiple departments. The university is set to conduct walk-in interviews on February 23, 2026, to fill vacancies in various academic schools.
The recruitment drive covers several disciplines with specific requirements. The School of Physical Sciences is looking for two Guest Faculty members in the Physics department with an M.Sc. in Physics and one in the Geology department specializing in Environmental Sciences. Candidates for these roles are expected to report at 10:00 A.M. The School of Human Sciences requires one faculty member for Anthropology, focusing on Social-Cultural or General Anthropology, and two for Psychology, with specializations in Cognitive, Organizational, or General Psychology. The reporting time for these departments is 11:00 A.M. Additionally, the School of Language and Literature is seeking one Guest Faculty for Lepcha and two for Limbu, with interviews starting for candidates reporting at 12:00 Noon. Simultaneously, the School of Social Sciences is looking to recruit one faculty member for the Law department with a specialization in Human Rights.
To be eligible, candidates must hold a post-graduation degree in the concerned subject with the required specialization. Furthermore, applicants must have qualified for the NET examination or hold a Ph.D. degree. While Ph.D. scholars who are currently pursuing their research are not eligible, those who have already submitted their thesis will be allowed to participate in the interview process.
The university has outlined that the selected Guest Faculty will receive an allowance of Rs. 1,500 per lecture, capped at a maximum of Rs. 50,000 per month. Appointees may be required to take more than 25 classes and will be responsible for preparing question papers and evaluating answer scripts. It is important to note that no TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview, and selected candidates must arrange their own accommodation,n as the university will not provide free housing. An application fee of Rs. 200 is payable on the day of the interview.
