VIT University offers multiple undergraduate & postgraduate courses across their campuses in Chennai, Bhopal, AP, & Vellore and has opened up admissions for the 2026 academic year. VITEEE 2026 is the primary UG admission test, whereas GATE, CAT, and VITMEE will provide entry for PG programmes. The student guide is available here.

VIT University Opens for 2026 Admissions at all 4 Campuses

The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has opened admissions for the next academic year. Applications for VIT’s B.Tech. programs have closed, and the direct entry through VIT’s entrance exam is no longer available. Students interested in other pathways are encouraged to apply to postgraduate offerings, research programs, and non-BTech programs as per the admission notices published.

BTech Admissions: Counselling Phase Has Started

VIT students aspiring to study engineering have to rely on the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE 2026) to secure a seat in one of the B.Tech. programs. The computer-based test for VITEEE 2026 has closed on May 3, 2026. VIT students have also been issued their VITEEE merit ranks. The centre has now moved to the online stage of BTech admissions. BTech programs have opened for artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, and data engineering. VIT students have also been allocated their seats based on merit ranking.

Active Admission Portals for Management, Sciences and Humanities

While securing engineering slots is in progress, VIT continues with admissions process for diverse non-engineering Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes. For several streams, admission is based on merit with respect to qualifying examinations or dedicated tests at the Institution.

Undergraduate Non-Engineering Programmes

One can still access the remaining slots in Conventional and Specialised Programmes, such as:

  • Management & Commerce: Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) & Bachelor of Commerce (BCom).
  • Computer Applications: Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and BSc Computer Science.
  • Applied Sciences: Specialized BSc programmes in Biotechnology, Visual Communication, and Multimedia & Animation.

Postgraduate & Doctoral Programmes

  • Management (MBA): The final assessment rounds for the MBA are currently taking place. The selection process considers VITBEE scores and some national exams such as CAT, XAT, and MAT.
  • Higher Sciences & Technology: The selection process for some MTech (through VITMEE or GATE), MCA, and MSc programmes is still ongoing.
  • Research (PhD): The applications for the doctorate are processed within a separate research portfolio, which assesses the applicants through a departmental test and a personal interview.

Following the placement data published for the 2023-2024 batch, more than 12,000 students received placement offers, and across all 4 VIT campuses, more than 600 companies participated in the campus recruitment program. The highest reported package was Rs. 54 Lakh per annum, and an international IT company offered it. The average package of the B.Tech Computer Science graduates of all VIT campuses was Rs. 8 to 9 Lakh per annum.

The list of companies that recruited students include Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Goldman Sachs, Zoho, Oracle, Cognizant, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Deloitte, KPMG, Accenture, Capgemini, Bosch, and several other companies spanning multiple sectors such as IT, Finance, Core Engineering, and Consulting. The Vellore campus has been the most sought after campus by recruiters, but the Chennai and Bhopal campuses have been witnessing a steady rise in on-campus recruitment in the previous 3 years.

Those looking to join VIT University in 2026, should check vit.ac.in for VITEEE 2026 counselling updates, the date for seat allotment, and the Chancellor's Scholarship. For top branches such as Computer Science with a specialisation in AI and Machine Learning, seats fill up during the first counselling, making it crucial to participate in the counselling as soon as possible.
