Midnapore: Vidyasagar University is going to celebrate 162nd Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore on May 9, 2022.
Being celebrated as Rabindra Jayanti all over the world, May 9, marks the important day in the history of West Bengal, leading to birth anniversary of “Kabiguru” Rabindranath Tagore. His collection of poets named ‘Rabindra Sangeet’ plays important role in Bengal’s Music Industry until today. Being fame with the name of “Kabiguru”, “Gurudev” and many more this Nobel laureate became the first person from India to get Nobel Prize in the year 1913 for his collection of poems “Gitanjali”. The song written by him ‘Bharat Bhagya Bidhata’ in Bengali, first published in 1905, in an issue of Tatwabodhini Patrika became the National Anthem of the Independent India named as, 'Jana-Gana-Mana' after it get adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India as the National Anthem on January 24, 1950.
On his birth anniversary, on May 9, National Service Scheme (NSS) of Vidyasagar University is going to celebrate the Rabindra Jayanti on 162nd Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.
The programme will start from 9:00a.m. at B.N. Sasmal Hall of Vidyasagar University maintaining the Covid-19 protocol. The event will be start with a short cultural programme by members of National Service Scheme of Vidyasagar University followed by Poem, Dance, and Rabindra Sangeet being performed by members of NSS.
Thus, all the stakeholders of the University with the approval of competent authority are invited to witness the programme.
