17-Year-Old Lucky Rawat from Uttarakhand Represents India in Prestigious International Arctic Expedition to the North Pole
New Delhi: In a remarkable achievement that has made India proud, 17-year-old Lucky Rawat from Chakrata, Uttarakhand, has been selected as India's sole representative for the prestigious "Icebreaker of Knowledge" International Scientific and Educational Expedition to the Geographic North Pole.
The 10-day expedition, which began from Murmansk, Russia, brings together talented students from 22 countries, including India, Bangladesh, China, Russia, Brazil, Egypt, South Africa, and several others. The participants are travelling aboard 50 Let Pobedy, one of the world's largest and most powerful nuclear-powered icebreakers, on a once-in-a-lifetime journey to the Geographic North Pole (90° North Latitude).
Lucky secured the only seat allocated to India after successfully clearing a rigorous multi-stage international selection process. The competition assessed participants on their scientific aptitude, environmental awareness, critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. His outstanding performance earned him the opportunity to represent India on a global scientific platform.
Expressing his excitement, Lucky said that being chosen as India's ambassador for the expedition is a matter of immense pride. He described the journey as a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," noting that only a handful of people ever get the chance to visit the North Pole. His father, Ram Singh, congratulated him on this extraordinary accomplishment and said the entire family is proud of his achievement, especially because he won the highly competitive online selection process.
