UPSC Exam Pattern For Prelims 2023

 

There are two papers in Prelims Examination For 2023

 

1. Paper I - General Studies (Objective Type) And

 

2. Paper II - General Studies II (CSAT) (Objective Type)

 

  1. The Number Of Questions asked in Paper I are 100. The marks allotted to it are 200, and candidates will be given 2 hours to write the paper. The nature of the exam is that the score will be considered for the cut-off.

 

  1. The Number Of Questions asked in Paper II are 80. The marks allotted to it are 200, and candidates will be given 2 hours to write the paper. The candidates have to score at least 33 percent to qualify for CSAT.

 

For sitting in the Prelims, candidates must fill out the application form using the UPSC online application form portal.

UPSC Prelims Preparation Tips

 

  1. Candidates should have to appear for both the exams of General Studies And CSAT. It is mandatory to appear in both exams to qualify for The Mains.

 

  1. Prelims Scores will not be added to the final score; they are just for the purpose of screening.

UPSC Mains Paper Pattern

Paper A: Paper A's subject is 'Compulsory Indian Language', and the duration of the paper is 3 hours. The total marks for the paper are 300.

 

Paper B: Paper B's subject is 'English', and the duration of the paper is 3 hours. The total marks for the paper are 300.

Paper VI: Paper VI is Optional Subject I, and the duration of the paper is 3 hours. The total marks for the paper are 250.

 

Paper VII: Paper VII is Optional Subject II. And the duration of the paper is 3 hours. The total marks for the paper are 250.

 

So, all the Mains papers except for exam papers A and B, which are language papers, are merit ranking.

 

Paper A and Paper B are of qualifying nature.
