Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed the task of starting the drive. The purpose of the drive is to identify school-aged children not enrolled in school, persuade parents to enroll their children, and to reinstate school dropouts into the school system. The drive is being extended to July 15. It is expected that the drive will enlist the support of the teachers, school management committee members, local administration, parents, and public representatives.
At the launch, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath distributed textbooks, bags, and stationery to the children. He also honored exemplary headmasters in the district. Reducing Dropout Rates by Increasing Enrolment and Attendance
This second phase of the School Chalo Abhiyan focuses on finding children operating outside the bounds of the formal education system and formalising their enrolment in the nearby government schools.
The Uttar Pradesh government maintains that the campaign will also strengthen constant attendance, and will promote reconnection of children who dropped out, and will support early childhood enrolment through Bal Vatika, which offers early childhood education for ages 3-6. The campaign aims at more than just enrolment by ensuring that children do not cease attending school throughout the academic year.
In the meantime, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has asked teachers to make classrooms interesting through the use of activity-oriented learning, sports, and through the use of other interactive teaching methods. Adityanath has also asked parents to look at the attitude and determination that their children show towards school and not just throw away the marks, while ensuring regular attendance. The government holds the view that improving the learning and teaching outcomes and preventing the dropout of school children requires stakeholders to sustain efforts in the community and at the school.
Campaign Goals
- School enrolment for all across the state.
- Address the dropout issue.
- Implement measures of attendance for the entire academic year.
- Strengthen community participation in education.
Why the Initiative is Beneficial for Students and the State's Education System
Uttar Pradesh is using the promotion of school enrollment campaigns as a core tactic in improving access to better education and in decreasing the levels of student drop outs. The government has integrated the School Chalo Abhiyan with Project Alankar, Operation Kayakalp, Mission Prerna and Mission NIPUN. The main focuses of these initiatives are the provision of quality infrastructure and teaching improvements, as well as the enhancement of foundational learning. All of these initiatives combined allow the government to strengthen its public education system and provide the means to give every child the opportunity to receive a full education.
Education specialists state that sustained classroom engagement, sufficient infrastructure, and active parent involvement make enrollment drives more effective. The campaign will be deemed a success when citizens stop dropping out of school, but sustained attendance and improved learning will be critical to the success of the campaign in the years to come.
School Chalo Abhiyan's subsequent phases will offer equal opportunity for citizens, schools, and teachers to actively engage in the campaign to ensure every child learns each year. It illustrates the decreasing gaps in educational access, as well as its sustained goal of encouraging every child to complete their education.
Conclusion
The second phase of the UP School Chalo Abhiyan furthers the efforts of Uttar Pradesh to mobilize the community to achieve complete school enrollment and decrease school dropout rates. The campaign runs from July 1 to July 15. Unlike the first phase of the campaign, this phase promotes the regular attendance of students, the re-enrollment of dropouts, and the strengthening of basic education.
The campaign was launched in Saharanpur by the Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath. This phase encourages teachers, parents, the community, and government personnel to promote the notion of “leaving no child behind." Parents are allowed to enroll eligible children, while teachers are reminded that school enrollment, without classroom engagement, is inadequate. It is anticipated that Phase II of the campaign, if successfully executed, will lead to enhanced learning and the provision of greater opportunities for quality education within the state of Uttar Pradesh.
