UP Govt Revamps RTE Admissions: Aadhaar Mandatory for Parents and Children

New online system, strict monitoring, and legal action to ensure transparency in school admissions - Entire Admission Process Goes Online

Lucknow ; The Uttar Pradesh government has overhauled the Right to Education (RTE) admission process for private schools, making the entire procedure online. Aadhaar cards of both parents and children are now compulsory for registration. Children aged 3–6 years will be eligible for pre-primary classes, while those aged 6–7 years can seek admission to Class 1.

District-Level Monitoring Committees Formed

For the first time, a District-Level Implementation and Monitoring Committee chaired by the District Magistrate will oversee the admissions. A four-member committee under the Chief Development Officer (CDO) will handle disputes to ensure smooth implementation.

Strict Action Against Fraud and School Irregularities

Parents submitting fake or forged documents will face legal action. Schools refusing admission to allotted students without valid reasons may lose recognition. Fee reimbursements will also be closely monitored, with schools required to upload admission details on both the RTE portal and the UDISE system.

Financial Support for Families

Under the scheme, the government will pay tuition fees directly to schools. Additionally, parents will receive ₹5,000 annually in their bank accounts for uniforms and books. Financial aid will only be released after thorough verification by district officials, including quarterly on-site inspections by Block Education Officers.

Inclusive Scheme for Disadvantaged Children

The revised RTE scheme covers children from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, socially and educationally backward classes, orphans, destitute children, children of parents with HIV/AIDS or cancer, and children from families with disabilities. Families earning up to ₹1 lakh annually are also eligible.

Focus on Transparency and Equal Opportunity

Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh stressed that the government is committed to ensuring no child from disadvantaged backgrounds is denied education. “Equal opportunities will be provided to every section of society,” he said, underlining the goal of strengthening accountability and transparency in the admission process.
