Bengaluru, June 10: UNSW Sydney has received the Letter of Approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to establish and operate its first international campus in Bengaluru, marking a significant milestone in the growing India-Australia education partnership. The Letter of Approval confirms that the UNSW Bengaluru campus meets the regulatory and quality standards prescribed by the UGC for foreign higher education institutions operating in India, assuring prospective students and parents of academic quality, governance and student experience.
Set to commence classes in August 2026 at Embassy Manyata Business Park, the UNSW Bengaluru campus will initially offer undergraduate degrees in Business, Computer Science and Data Science, along with a postgraduate degree in Cyber Security. The University also plans to introduce further programs in the next academic year. Students at UNSW Bengaluru will be the first to receive a global top 20 university educational experience in India, with equivalent academic quality and globally recognised standards that define the UNSW Sydney experience, while benefitting from close industry exposure in one of India’s leading technology and innovation hubs.
Commenting on the development, Professor Attila Brungs, Vice-Chancellor and President, UNSW Sydney, said:

He further added:

Professor Sarah Maddison, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education & Student Experience), added:
"At UNSW Bengaluru, students will benefit from a globally connected learning experience that combines academic rigour with practical learning, interdisciplinary thinking and a strong focus on driving impact for our graduates and their communities."
She further said:

The Australian High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, said:
"The approval of UNSW Bengaluru by the Indian government is further endorsement of the quality of Australian education. It reflects the growing strength of the Australia-India education relationship and the shared commitment of both countries towards advancing research, innovation and talent development."
Located within Embassy Manyata Business Park in North Bengaluru, the campus is strategically positioned inside a fast-growing technology and business district that houses more than 60 multinational and Fortune 500 companies, including IBM, Nokia, ANZ, Cognizant and Rolls-Royce. The location is anticipated to drive strong opportunities for internships, industry engagement, networking and experiential learning. The launch of UNSW Bengaluru also reflects the growing momentum of international universities establishing campuses in India under the National Education Policy 2020 framework and UGC regulations for foreign higher education institutions.
