Bengaluru: The students who were enrolled for the distance education exams were shocked to see the old question paper repeated while the exam was held on Monday.

Alerted by the students, the Bangalore University’s education sector decided to cancel the exams scheduled on Monday and conduct it later.

The distressed students said that the English exam for the UG course was scheduled on Monday and were prepared for the new syllabus, but the question paper turned out to be the old version with a syllabus that was before 2018.

The University’s officials owned up to their mistake and said that the examination was under the one-time measure which included students who had failed or discontinued between the year 2010 to 2022 and more than 360 students had registered for the exam.

“Students said they were prepared for the new syllabus and the question paper was of the old syllabus. Considering what is best in the students interest we have postponed the exams. The exams for English will be conducted later and we will announce the dates soon” said B C Mylarappa, the director of distance education department of Bangalore University.
