Jammu, India: The Department of Zoology and the Institute of Human Genetics at the University of Jammu have officially opened applications for a Project Associate-I position. This opportunity is part of a high-impact mission to "lead "the Mission Program in Pediatric Rare Genetic Diseases, which is sanctioned and funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. Located at the university's main campus on Baba Saheb Ambedkar Road in Jammu, this project aims to advance critical research in human molecular genetics.
The selected candidate will be appointed on a purely temporary basis, co-terminus with the project. While the initial appointment is set for one year, there is a possibility for extension throughout the duration of the project, contingent upon satisfactory work performance. The university is seeking highly qualified candidates who hold a First CMaster'ster's Degree in Life Sciences. While a broad range of Life Science disciplines are eligible, including Zoology, Human Genetics, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, and Bioinformatics, the department also welcomes applications from those with a Bachelor of Medicine from a recognized university. Preference will be given to applicants who possess practical experience in human molecular genetics, cell biology, molecular biology, or bioinformatics.
Candidates must be below 35 years of age to apply. The monthly remuneration is structured based on national qualifications:
- Rs. 31,000 + HRA: Awarded to candidates who have cleared national-level examinations such as CSIR-UGC NET (including LS-NET), GATE, or equivalent tests conducted by central government agencies like DBT, DST, ICMR, or DAE.
- Rs. 25,000 + HRA: Applicable to eligible candidates who do not fall under the above category.
