University of Allahabad Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026: ₹1.08 Lakh Monthly Fellowship on Offer, Apply by November 18

Uttar Pradesh:  A postdoctoral opportunity at a central university can provide researchers the opportunity to take their doctoral work a step further. The University of Allahabad has invited applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship (PDF) under the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT, Phase-II for the year 2026-27. The fellowship is worth ₹1,08,393/- per month with a contingency and HRA. The University has only one full-time Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Applicants are required to have a PhD in Computer Science and related disciplines with a net publication of at least 10 research papers. The age of the applicant should not be more than 35 years on the closing date of this application. Candidates are required to submit the application both by post and by email. Therefore, it is advisable that applicants prepare all the required documents well in advance. Interested and eligible Indian researchers are requested to apply latest by 18th November, 2026. University of Allahabad Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026: Important Details

The fellowship is a full time, temporary post and can only be held in India. The University are looking for researchers whose PhD research aligns with Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) or Information Technology/IT-Enabled Services (IT/ITES).

Stipend and Benefits

The appointee will receive a monthly stipend of ₹1,08,393. Additional financial support will be received:

• Contingency Grant – ₹1,00,000 per annum. This will be given proportionally. For example, you will receive ₹25,000 every quarter.
• Travel Support – Up to ₹2,10,000 per annum (subject to norms).

The stipend and additional financial support will help with any research costs. However, there is no extension for the stipend. It will only be given for one year.

Eligibility Criteria

This fellowship is for researchers with a strong background in academics and research. Please make sure you meet the following criteria:

• Indian Citizen.
• Hold a PhD from a recognised institution.
• PhD must have been awarded within the last 5 years of the closing date.
• First class honours at all previous levels. You must have a consistent good academic record.
• Be aged 40 years or under on the date of application.
• Research background in ESDM or IT/ITES.
• Have an academic merit with publications in peer review journals.

PhD holders from the University of Allahabad are not eligible for this position. If you are currently employed you will not be considered. If you currently have a temporary role in academia/research you are eligible to apply. However, if you are appointed you must leave your current role. Your research proposal must be clear and state your research aims, expected results and outputs. Preference will be given to those with active links to industry and research proposals relevant to industry issues.

Selection Process

The University will select candidates in two stages:

Stage 1 – Screening Test

You will sit an offline test at the University of Allahabad campus. The questions will be based on your research area within ESDM or IT/ITES. Those who have been shortlisted will be invited to an interview.

Stage 2 – Interview

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel of experts. This may be on the same day as the screening test or the following day.

Those appointed will be based on recommendations from the interview panel and approval from the competent authority. However, the University reserve the right not to fill the role if suitable candidates cannot be found.
