What does the UGC NET Qualification entitle you to?

UGC NET qualification determines the eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor and PhD admission based on whether the candidate has cleared any or all of the three categories. As per the information available on the UGC NET portal, candidates who clear the Assistant Professor and PhD category are eligible for the same but not for JRF, whereas candidates who qualify under the PhD-only category are eligible for PhD admission only.

It is pertinent to mention here that the UGC NET qualification does not complete all eligibility criteria for further studies or jobs. NTA’s Press Release mentions that all claims regarding eligibility, self-certification, and requisite documents will be scrutinised by the competent authority. Therefore, candidates must ensure that they meet all eligibility criteria before applying for any position or further studies.
