A total of 1,96,491 candidates registered for the three subjects.

The gender-wise registration figures were:

• Female: 1,29,552 candidates — 65.93%

• Male: 66,931 candidates — 34.06%

• Third gender: 8 candidates — 0.01%

Of the registered candidates, 1,20,355 candidates appeared for the examination.

UGC NET June 2026 Qualification Statistics

The NTA has released the qualification figures for the three subjects combined.

• Candidates qualified for JRF: 824

• Candidates qualified for Assistant Professor: 11,610

• Candidates qualified for PhD only: 23,154

Therefore, a total of 35,588 candidates fall within the three reported qualification categories for these subjects.

UGC NET Examination Conducted in September

Following an earlier public notice issued by NTA on August 16, 2026, the UGC-NET June 2026 examination for English, Commerce and Sociology was conducted on September 9 and 10.

The examination was held across 454 centres in 272 cities throughout the country.

Answer Key Challenge Process Completed

Before declaration of the result, NTA hosted the question papers, provisional answer keys and recorded responses of candidates for the three subjects on its website.

The materials were available for challenges from September 10 to September 13, 2026.

Challenges submitted by candidates were subsequently examined and verified by subject experts. The results were then processed using the answer keys finalised by the experts.

After logging in, candidates can:

Verification of Eligibility Documents

NTA has clarified that the eligibility criteria, self-declaration and other documents of candidates who are eligible will be verified by the concerned authorities according to the applicable norms specified in the UGC-NET June 2026 Information Bulletin.

The declaration of the result therefore does not replace the prescribed verification process.
