New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the postponement of the UGC NET December 2024 exam originally scheduled for January 15, 2025, citing Pongal, Makar Sankranti, and other festive observances.
In an official statement, the NTA confirmed that the new date for the postponed exam will be announced soon. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official websites nta.ac.in and ugc.nta.ac.in for updates.

- Reason for Postponement: Festive celebrations on January 15, including Pongal and Makar Sankranti.
- Rescheduled Date: To be announced by the NTA.
- January 16 Exam: The UGC NET exam scheduled for January 16, 2025, will proceed as per the original schedule.
About UGC NET December 2024
The UGC NET December 2024 exam, which began on January 3, is conducted for 85 subjects and is scheduled to run until January 16. The exam is held annually to:
- Award Junior Research Fellowships (JRF).
- Appoint Assistant Professors in universities.
- Facilitate admission to Ph.D. programs.
The exams are conducted in online mode in two shifts:
- Morning Shift: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- Afternoon Shift: 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
