Other dates & conditions related to the exam have not been changed. The NTA has confirmed that all other terms & conditions mentioned in the Information Bulletin & previous notices remain the same. Those who have already applied should check their application status. Those who haven’t completed their registration should try not to leave it until the last minute.

Who Can Apply?

The UGC NET exam is taken to determine whether Indian Nationals are eligible for the following:

  • Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) – For those eligible to pursue research opportunities & receive fellowship support.
  • Assistant Professor – For those wishing to qualify for Assistant Professor roles.
  • PhD – For those wishing to gain entry into PhD courses at Indian Universities & Colleges.

This exam is to determine whether you are eligible for these opportunities. Passing the UGC NET does not guarantee you will receive a fellowship, teaching role or entry into a specific doctorate course.

How to Apply

Those who have not completed their registration can apply via the official UGC NET site. Follow the below steps:

  • Go to ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
  • Click on the registration/application link.
  • Complete the necessary information.

Refer to the official Information Bulletin for details on the criteria, documents, fees & other requirements. The notice does not mention any new fees or changes to the criteria.

What Should You Do?

Whilst there is more time to apply, you should check that you have successfully applied & paid your exam fee. Just because you have started paying your fees does not mean you have completed the transaction. Check your payment status via the official site. If you have any issues with paying or applying, follow the instructions given by the NTA.

The agency has specifically said that you should complete your application well before the new deadline to avoid any issues. They have also requested that you keep an eye on their official sites (nta.ac.in & ugcnet.nta.nic.in) for any further updates.
