Madras - The Department of Management Studies (DoMS), IIT Madras, has announced the extension of the application deadline for its two-year, full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme to February 8, 2026.
The MBA programme is open to fresh graduates as well as experienced professionals and emphasizes strong conceptual foundation in the in initial quarters. The curriculum covers core functional areas, including Finance, Marketing, Operations, Human Resources and Organisational Behaviour, Information Systems and Integrative management. In the final phase students can specialise through electives across various business streams and domain-focused areas.
IIT Madras stated that the MBA programme boasts 100 percent placement, with the highest compensation reaching Rs. 35.5 lakh per annum, highlighting the strong industry demand for graduates from the institute.
Commenting on the programme, Prof. Saji K. Mathew, Head, DoMS, IIT Madras, said that the department promotes diversity across educational background, industry experience, region and gender and has consistently produced management professionals who lead across industries.
Admissions Coordinator Prof. Prathamesh Vivek Kittur added that the programme is curated to develop capable industry-ready managers through a rigorous curriculum that blends management theory with real world practice. The seven quarter structure includes a classroom teaching, case discussions, hand-on industry, internships and project work. He further noted that learning control is it strengthened through 8-10 week summer internship after the fourth quarter of the capstone project in the final quarter, providing extensive industry exposure. The admission process aims to identify candidates who can grow into next generation decision makers aligned with India's long-term development vision.
Eligibility criteria include a recognized undergraduate degree with at least 60 percent marks (55 percent for SC/ST/PwD candidates). Final-year students are also eligible, subject to fulfilling degree requirements by September 2026. Indian nationals must have a valid CAT 2025 score, while foreign nationals must submit a valid GMAT score.
Personal interviews will be conducted in major cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata during March 2026. Admission results will be declared in May 2026, followed by joining, orientation, and registration in July 2026.
