Two day international conference started at Central University of Haryana

Haryana: A two-day international conference focused on the theme ‘Sustainability, Future, Earth and Humanities: Opportunities and Challenges’ inaugurated at Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh. Conference sponsored by ICSSR in collaboration with International Geographical Union (IGU), the Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Punjab, Prof. R.P. Tiwari was present as the Chief Guest, while the first president of the International Geographical Union, Prof. Nathalie Lemarchand and Head of Department of Geography, Istanbul University, Turkey and Secretary General of International Geographical Union Prof. Barbaros Gonengil joined in as a Guest of Honour. Former Vice Chancellor of Rajasthan University, Jaipur, Prof. J.P. Singhal and Pro-Vice Chancellor of Central University of Haryana, Prof. Sushma Yadav addressed the participants as Special Guests at the event. The program was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar.
Prof. R.P. Tiwari said that in today's time, the biggest challenge before mankind is climate change. To solve this, it is necessary that everyone should work together under a detailed action plan keeping sustainable development at the center. Prof. Tiwari emphasized on the development of Indian culture and efforts for changes by presenting examples of Vocal for Local. Describing the role of students, researchers, teachers and educational institutions important in this direction, Prof. Tiwari said that through such events it would definitely be possible to solve the problem of climate change faced by the entire human race. While expressing gratitude to the national, international scholars and experts involved in the event, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar said that this topic is very important in today's time and its diagnosis is possible only through continuous development and collective efforts. The Vice-Chancellor said that discussions at various levels in this event would certainly prove helpful in tackling the challenge of climate change. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, while appreciating the Teachers of the Geography Department of the University including the office bearers of the International Geographical Union for organizing this event, said that such events in the University provide a common platform for discussion to solve the challenges.
While describing the subject important, Former Vice Chancellor of Rajasthan University and President of ABRSM Prof. J.P. Singhal said that through sustainable development, we can find solutions to environmental challenges. He described the ongoing efforts in this direction important and said that this grand event organized by the efforts of IGU in Central University of Haryana will pave the way for new changes in this direction. Describing the event important, Pro-Vice Chancellor of CUH Prof. Sushma Yadav said that if we assess the challenges faced by the environment and try to solve them, then definitely opportunities will develop. Prof. Sushma Yadav, referring to the position of mother power given to Earth in Indian culture, said that we should work for the welfare of mankind by following the concept of ‘Vasudaiva Kutumbakam.’ Describing climate change as an important challenge, she emphasized on concerted efforts to solve it. On this occasion, Prof. Sunita Srivastava of Physics Department of the University and Dean of School of Education Prof. Sarika Sharma were prominently present.
Earlier, the inaugural session was addressed by the President of the International Geographical Union, Prof. Michael Meadows via video message. In this sequence, the first president of the International Geographical Union, Prof. Nathalie Lemarchand and Head of Department of Geography, Istanbul University, Turkey and Secretary General of International Geographical Union Prof. Barbaros Gonengil also spoke in detail on the importance of the event and the discussions that took place in it. At the beginning of the program, Dr. Manish Kumar, the Convener of the conference, presented the welcome speech, while Dr. Pankaj Kumar, the organizing secretary, presented the outline of the two-day event to the participants. In the event, the guests presented the souvenir of the event and also released the book of Prof. Mahtab Singh Rana. Dr. Abhiranjan Kumar and Dr. Ritu conducted the stage in the programme, while the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Kheraj of Geography Department. Dr. Manish Kumar said that 600 participants from India and abroad have been registered in the event and in organizing this two-day program along with the members of the organizing committee, the Head of the department Dr. Jitendra Kumar and other teachers Dr. C.M. Meena, Dr. Sandeep Rana and Dr. Kapil Dev are playing an important role.
