Mahendergarh ; Central University of Haryana (CUH) inaugurated a two-day International Vedic Conference on Wednesday on the theme “Dimensions of Thought in Indian Knowledge Tradition and Yug-DrashtaMaharshiDayanandSaraswati.” The conference is being jointly organized by the Swami DayanandSaraswati Chair of the University and Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi.
The inaugural session was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of CUH, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Prof.DeeptiDharmani, Vice-Chancellor of Chaudhary Bansi Lal University, Bhiwani. Guests of honour included Prof.Surendra Kumar from MaharshiDayanand University, Rohtak, and Prof.ChandkiranSaluja, Director, Sanskrit SamvardhanPratishthan. MLA Shri Kanwar Singh Yadav also graced the occasion.
In his presidential address, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar emphasized that Swami DayanandSaraswati played a pivotal role in revitalizing the Indian Knowledge Tradition. He highlighted the foundational importance of the Vedas and underlined the relevance of integrating Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) within the framework of the National Education Policy. He observed that the growing global interest in Indian philosophy and Vedic thought reflects the enduring strength of India’s cultural roots.
Prof.DeeptiDharmani described the Vedas as the foundational roots of Indian civilization. She stressed that Indian Knowledge Tradition is not merely theoretical but a living system rooted in practice, values, and contemplation. She called for deeper engagement with scriptural wisdom beyond textual reading.
Prof.Surendra Kumar termed MaharshiDayanand a central figure in India’s intellectual and national renaissance, while Prof.ChandkiranSaluja connected his teachings with social reform, discipline, and moral awakening. MLA Shri Kanwar Singh Yadav appreciated the University’s initiative and emphasized the importance of preserving Indian cultural heritage.
Prof.PayalChandel, Director of the programme, welcomed all the distinguished guests and participants and described the event as a historic and proud moment for the University. As Programme Secretaries, Dr.Vikram Singh and Dr.Sanchit Kumar outlined the structure of the conference and highlighted its key objectives. The proceedings of the inaugural session were effectively conducted by Dr.Neeraj Karan, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication.Dr.Suman, the Convener of the conference, informed that more than 350 participants from 26 states across India have registered for the International Conference. In addition, Vedic scholars and followers from nearly 10 countries have joined the event through online mode.
